ABOUT SOMETHINGchic
Getting dressed should feel easy, not like a decision that eats up your morning. That's the whole reason SOMETHINGchic exists.
We're a women's clothing boutique in Downtown Billings, Montana — the kind of shop where you walk in for one thing and walk out with a full outfit and a game plan for it. We carry a mix of brands you already love, like Pistola and Z Supply, alongside newer names we've fallen for ourselves, all handpicked by our founder, Linda.
Every piece is hand-selected with one goal — pieces that work hard for you and mix easily with what's already in your closet. Work, weekends, a night out, or just a regular Tuesday — we want you to have something ready to go, without much thought.
Customer service, quality, and real relationships matter more to us than moving inventory. You'll find pieces across a range of price points, a friendly shopping environment, and a team that is ready to help style and build outfits for you.
If you're ever downtown, stop in and say hi — we'll have bottled water, mini Diet Cokes, and usually a little champagne on hand. Come sip and shop with us. Take a look around, or come see us at 2818 2nd Ave N in Billings.
ABOUT LINDA
I'm Linda — an operating room nurse by trade, and the person who now spends most of her non-nursing hours thinking about outfits, fabric, and fit.
SOMETHINGchic started as a business plan I wrote back in 2016, entered into a local competition called Battle of the Plans. I had no background in retail, so I spent that year learning everything I could — through research, internships, and business classes — while trying to figure out if this idea could actually become something real.
I took second place that first year, then left home for nine months to work as a travel nurse so I could save toward the business while I competed again. In 2017, I came back and won Battle of the Plans, which came with $20,000 in startup funding. It still wasn't enough to get a loan, so in 2018 I ran a crowdfunding campaign and raised another $20,000 — and that's when a bank finally agreed to finance the rest.
Three years after I first wrote that business plan, SOMETHINGchic opened its doors in May 2019.
I still pick up nursing shifts here and there, but this is where I've found the most joy — hand-selecting every piece that comes into the shop, getting to know our customers, and building something Billings didn't have before. If you're in the shop, there's a good chance you'll run into me.
